Job description:

A Public Safety Officer serves in the protection of life and property through the enforcement of laws and ordinances. This consists of routine vehicle and foot patrol, as well as preliminary investigations and traffic regulation duties. Public Safety Officers are unique in that these individuals also work closely with the Fire and Rescue Departments and are often cross-trained to serve shoulder-to-shoulder with certified and volunteer personnel in service of the citizens of the City of Daleville. This position involves an element of personal danger and Public Safety Officers must honorably conduct themselves without direct supervision, exercising independent judgment in responding to emergencies. Only certified law enforcement applicants to be considered.

This part-time position is responsible for safeguarding and regulating pedestrian traffic at assigned crossings to ensure the safety of children walking to and from school. The Crossing Guard also provides assistance and directions to the public as needed.

The position typically requires approximately two hours per day, Monday through Friday, during the public school year (excluding holidays and non-school days). Specific hours are set by the SRO Sergeant and may vary according to need and workload.

The position will remain open until filled.
