The Daleville Police Department have recovered cash, weapons, drugs and more following “months” of investigation.
According to Daleville Police Chief Allen Medley, investigators with the DPD’s Narcotics Division obtained and executed a search warrant, with assistance from the Daleville SWAT Team, around 7 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 2, at a residence in Daleville.
Medley and investigators thanked the Dale County District Attorney’s Office for their assistance in this case.
A suspect has been taken into custody, but the name and address of the suspect have not been released at this time “due to an ongoing investigation that investigators (Narcotics Division) have been involved in,” according to Medley.
From the search of the residence, investigators recovered firearms, natural and synthetic marijuana, methamphetamine, cocaine, ecstasy, and a large sum of cash. Medley said these items indicated a distribution operation.
He said this case is just one example of how the DPD is continually working to “clean up” the City of Daleville.
“We’re not going to tolerate this in Daleville anymore,” he said.
Medley thanked his narcotics investigators for their hard work to keep Daleville safe.
“I can’t say enough about (the investigators),” he said. “I think a lot of people, when they hear investigators, they don’t truly understand that it’s not that they just sit behind a desk. They have to work discreetly sometimes, and this right here is a prime example of (their work). There’s a lot of work that goes behind this.”
Medley also said the DPD relies on the help of citizens for information, encouraging them to call the police with any information they believe to be important.
“We depend on the citizens to help us out,” he said. “This is their town. If they see something… if we don’t get a call, we don’t know. They don’t need to think that anything is stupid or we’re not going to do anything with it. Call us; come see us. We’ll do our best to keep it discreet or whatever we need to do.”
