Spartan Fest tournament a success

The 1st of the 223rd Aviation Regiment beat the City of Daleville 4-3 in a seven-inning softball game during the city's annual Spartan Fest held at Culpepper Park on Saturday, Sept. 22.

This year, Spartan Fest became more than a softball game. Groups from Daleville High School, including the band and JROTC, had booths with goodies for visitors to buy at the softball tournament.

Other vendors also offered refreshments and other goods for visitors to purchase. Live music was also provided during the annual softball game.

Winning the softball game means the 223rd will keep the trophy to display for a year until the next Spartan Fest softball game occurs.

This annual game was part of a new, four-team tournament that included teams from the Daleville's National Guard unit and the Captain's Career Course.
