On Aug. 21, a solar eclipse will be visible to people across the United States, and the Daleville Public Library will be holding a viewing party to celebrate this historic event.

Daleville Warhawks receiver Tyler Presley also took home the gold medal in the 40-yard dash in the 16-18 group. Posted: Wednesday, August 16, 2017 9:32 am | Updated: 10:45 am, Thu Aug 17, 2017.Staff reports | 0 commentsThe Daleville Recreation Department held its first inaugural Wiregrass Punt, Pass and Kick event with football players from all over the area competing from all age groups.Along with the competition, former Daleville High, Arkansas State and NFL star Robert Killow spoke to the children at the event and explained to them how the words “I can’t” should not be in a child’s vocabulary.The competitions at the event ranged from field goal kicking, punting, passing and a 40-yard dash.Local high school football stars even showed up as Elba quarterback Byron Johnson won the punt, pass, field goal and overall gold medals for the age 16-18 division, while Daleville receiver Tyler Presley impressed in the 40-yard dash.The Daleville Recreation Department hopes to make this event an annual event each year.“My team of volunteers and support for the event (Saturday) was so strong,” event coordinator Matthew Miller said. “I would like to give a special thanks to the 25 (soldiers) that came from Fort Rucker to help with the event. We love our military and are proud of them all. Next year we will be back for another fun filled day and I can’t wait.”Note: Matthew Miller was the event coordinator for the Punt, Pass and Kick event, but is not an employee of

“The seniors are important to the City of Daleville and the mayor," said Terry Hitchcock, City of Daleville Director of Public Works. "It’s a fun thing to do to help them out also. They don’t ask for a whole lot, so when they so, we try to help them out when we can. “It just makes you feel better when you get to help them out because they enjoy it.”
