For the eleventh year, Alabama citizens will enjoy a sales tax holiday Friday. The tax holiday is perfect timing since many schools in the Wiregrass, including Daleville City Schools, will begin the new school year this week.

WES principal stays active in lead statewide roles
As president of the Alabama Association of Elementary School Administrators, Windham Elementary School Principal Chris Mitten will represent the AAESA affiliate’s members on the Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools. Mitten is in his 13th year as an elementary school principal.

City Council Meeting

Due to National Night Out, this meeting regular scheduled for the first Tuesday has been moved to Monday at 5:30pm in the council chambers of Daleville City Hall.

Additional funding for gully repair approved
The Daleville City Council approved $31,000 additional monies for repair of an active gully from uncontrolled storm run-off near the city bun barn during the July 5 regularly scheduled council meeting. The majority of the costs associated with the repair will come from a special grant.
