Daleville Mayor Claudia Wigglesworth declared Friday, Sept. 18, as POW/MIA Recognition Day to honor the sacrifices of prisoners of war and those who are missing in action. National POW/MIA Recognition Day started in 1979, and falls on the third Friday of September.

Lions Clubs International actively supports the prevention of avoidable blindness and restoration of eyesight for people around the world. As part of the project, Lions Clubs around the world collect no-longer-used eyeglasses for repurposing.

Council approves Title VI program
The Daleville City Council approved the implementation for a Title VI program at the Senior Center at its Sept. 1 meeting. The Title VI amendment to the Civil Rights Act of 1964 provides protection against discrimination based on race, religion, color, and national origin.

The Daleville Baptist Church chapter of the Faith Riders Motorcycle Ministry held its annual "Stuff the Bus" fundraiser ride on Saturday, Aug. 29. The ride equaled to around 100 miles.

Daleville crushes Barbour County en route to first region win
An emphasis more on self improvement and less on who is across the field from them seems to have paid dividends for the Daleville Warhawks. A 32-6 thumping of Barbour County  Sept. 4th backed that up. It's the Warhawks first win in Class 3A, Region 2 play.
