Daleville terminates Judicial Correction Services contract
The Daleville City Council voted Tuesday night to terminate its long-held contract with Juvenile Correction Services (JCS). Just last month the council decided to take a “wait and see” approach and look at all alternatives before ending the relationship with JCS.Daleville’s attorney had drawn up an agreement that allowed the city to cancel its contract with a 30-day notice. These actions come after nearly 100 cities throughout the state were urged in a June letter from the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) to end contracts with the private for-profit company that collects court fees and traffic fines.

Daleville Senior Center hosts Bingo Bash
The Daleville Senior Center held its first Bingo Bash on Wednesday, Sept. 23. Senior centers from Newton, Midland City, Ozark and Enterprise attended the event. "Overall, I think it was a success," Daleville Senior Center Director Laura Leger said. "This was our first time having an event this big."

Daleville Mayor Claudia Wigglesworth declared Friday, Sept. 18, as POW/MIA Recognition Day to honor the sacrifices of prisoners of war and those who are missing in action. National POW/MIA Recognition Day started in 1979, and falls on the third Friday of September.

Lions Clubs International actively supports the prevention of avoidable blindness and restoration of eyesight for people around the world. As part of the project, Lions Clubs around the world collect no-longer-used eyeglasses for repurposing.
