New mayor will walk into fiscally solid city government
In less than a month a new mayor will take the reins of government in Daleville and when mayor-elect Jayme Stayton steps into office, he will do so with a healthy fiscal budget. “The bottom line here we started the (fiscal) year with a balanced budget and we have revenue exceeding our expenses of $325,374…Not only is it because our revenue is up, but we’ve maintained our expenses, kept our expenses low.”

On Sept. 9, Daleville Mayor Claudia Wigglesworth read and signed a proclamation making Friday, Sept. 16,  National POW/MIA Day and Leo Suiter Day in Daleville.

Council approves $3.5 million FY17 budget
The Daleville City Council approved a $3.5 million budget for fiscal year 2017 during the Sept. 20 council meeting. The budget utilizes conservative monthly sales tax revenue of an estimated $125,000 or $1.5 million annually. The total figures are about the same as the budget passed for fiscal year 2016.
