Finishing Culpepper Park may cost more than expected
Engineers and planners working on the expansion of Culpepper Park’s new baseball/softball fields told council members costs are up during a Dec. 19 work session.Community Development Director at Southeast Alabama Regional Planning and Development Commission Scott Farmer told the mayor and council members that time is pressing for submission for Land and Water Conservation funding for a new concession stand, restrooms, and press box building. All will be part of the same two-story building.

Doing the right thing gets DHS students recognition
Perhaps recognizing students was something done in the past at Daleville High School, but it’s been a long while and at some point before the tenure of current Principal Joshua Robertson. He decided to change that this year and had the idea to recognize students who simply “do the right thing” on a daily basis.

Two judges will serve Daleville Municipal Court
During the regularly scheduled Daleville City Council meeting Dec. 6, members voted unanimously to appoint two attorneys as municipal court judges, rather than one. Under the previous administration, only one court judge, Joe Gallo, was appointed judge. Now, Gallo and former municipal judge Joe Adams will share the role of municipal judge.

Emergency ‘No Burn’ lifted statewide
 Gov. Robert Bentley and Interim State Forester Gary Cole rescinded the statewide drought emergency “No Burn” order that has been in effect since early November.On Monday, Dec. 5, officials with the Alabama Forestry Commission said the state has received enough rainfall over the last few days to reduce the threat of dangerous wildfires.
