Hall outlines SES duties at AUSA meet
The SES is tasked with being the major link between the armed services and the federal civil service workforce. Hall is deputy to Fort Rucker Commander Maj. Gen. Michael Lundy. The son of a career army airman and father of a career soldier, Hall is a retired Army colonel who was selected to the SES in 2001.There are 288 members of the SES. Alabama has 99 SES assigned to it with the majority assigned to Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville. Hall is the only SES assigned to Fort Rucker.Hall said it is his responsibility to implement the commanding general’s “strategic vision to integrate and align key organizational and program goals, priorities, and resourcing to successfully enable mission accomplishment.”There are five major expectations of a SES team member, Hall said, citing leading change, leading people, being results drive, building coalitions and having business acumen.Hall assumed responsibility of the senior leadership position at Fort Rucker a year ago, he said. He came to Fort Rucker from the Office of the Assistant Chief of Staff for Installation Management where he served the director of resources. There he was responsible for oversight, management and execution of requirements development for all installation management programs for U.S. Army installations.Hall is charged, he explained, to assessing and adjusting to changing situations by implementing innovative solutions to make institutional improvements.”“My job is to make sure the kit that soldier is using is state of the art, the best our country can provide,” Hall said, “so that when that soldier gets in that aircraft and goes downrange, I can sleep at night knowing that we have trained the best aviators possible.“My role is to figure out how we can do it better, reducing costs,” Hall said. “My goal is to free up resources to do one thing: train aviators.”
