Leo Suiter Day in Daleville observed

National Prisoner of War and Missing in Action Recognition Day is a national observance and is held each third Friday of September annually. On Sept. 9, Daleville Mayor Claudia Wigglesworth read and signed a proclamation making Friday, Sept. 16,  National POW/MIA Day and Leo Suiter Day in Daleville.  Suiter is a World War II veteran and former POW. Several others joined the mayor is surprising Suiter at his office in the city with the special proclamation. Pictured, from left are police officer, Noah Suiter, the elder Suiter’s grandson, Department of Public Safety Director Harvey Mathis, Capt. Bill Mansfield, Lt. Stacey Austin, Suiter’s son, Robert Suiter, and Mayor Wigglesworth.
