Daleville Farmer’s Market now open

On Thursday, June 2, the Daleville Farmer's Market opened to the public.The market will be open every Thursday from 2-5 p.m. in the lot across from Bojangles until July 28, or for about nine weeks, according to Chamber of Commerce Director Nancy Garner. Nancy Garner said it was important for Daleville to have a market to showcase the work of local businesses and farmers."(It's) keeping people using local resources," Garner said. "(It's) keeping people in Daleville."The market not only highlights farmers and their produce, but it also allows local "artisans" to showcase their work, Garner said. She said she inviting 140 farmers and businesses to take part in the farmer's market."If they've got a talent, maybe they make crafts or if there's nonprofit groups that want to come out here and have a hotdog sale, will (be able) to come out here," she said.Garner said it costs $15 per day to set up a stall at the market. For the whole season, it costs $100."We just want them to be out here," Garner said.
