Daleville’s Richardson inducted into Chiefs Hall of Fame
Richardson’s latest enshrinement comes from the team he spent 11 seasons with in the National Football League.Kansas City Chiefs Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt announced March 5 that Richardson will be a 2016 inductee into the team’s Hall of Fame."It's been a long journey since 1995 being an undrafted free agent leaving Dallas on the practice squad," Richardson said at a press conference."When Mr. Hunt called me, it was definitely overwhelming because you think about all the hard work, all the sweat and all the tears and everything you've been through on this journey, and you realize you don't sign up to play fullback to make it to the Hall of Fame. Much like I look back on my own personal life, my dad being a military man, my sister currently serving, and that's the only thing I've known my entire life is to be a servant."Richardon’s 11-year tenure as a fullback with the Chiefs saw him play in 163 games, with 95 starts. He rushed for 1,576 yards and hauled in 1,298 receiving yards, hitting the end zone 24 times. He was also a key role player in helping pave the way for four individual 1,000-yard rushing seasons by Larry Johnson and Priest Holmes.  He was a three-time Pro Bowler (2003-05) before making a move to the Minnesota Vikings.“It is my pleasure to announce that Tony Richardson will be inducted into the Chiefs Hall of Fame this fall,” Hunt said in a press conference.“As a fullback, Tony’s selfless personality and physical ability paved the way for many team and individual achievements in his 16 NFL seasons, 11 of those in Kansas City. His durability was uncanny, playing in more games than any other fullback or running back in Chiefs history. He blocked for two of the top three rushers in franchise history. Beyond the field, Tony was a consummate professional and a leader. He left an indelible mark throughout the community with his philanthropic efforts. We are thrilled to be adding his name to our Ring of Honor.”
