Congresswoman Martha Roby made several stops through the Wiregrass area Feb. 17, including one at Daleville High School where she spent some quality time with the award-winning Warhawk Battalion.JROTC members presented a short program on the topic of bullying and how to end that problem in schools. Roby applauded the cadets efforts and encouraged them to continue on in their leadership in all areas.The Drill Team presented a drill routine for the congresswoman who congratulated them on their performance and the successes of the Daleville program altogether.Roby spent time telling the students to set goals and work towards those goals and to stay focused. She shared her own past of wanting to work in the music industry and thus attending college in New York City and eventually working for a music company. Roby explained how she eventually went to law school and found herself entering the political arena as a Montgomery City Council member after learning a member would not be seeking re-election. She told the cadets she knew then what she was suppose to be doing and that was having “a voice” and “a say” about how things are run in government for the citizens.Eventually, she explained, she ran for the U.S. House of Representatives and continues serving in that position.
