Daleville dodges flooding bullet
The city of Daleville dodged the flood bullet over the Christmas holidays, unlike the  community of Elba in neighboring Coffee County.Daleville Department of Public Safety Director Harvey Mathis said all streets are currently open in Daleville. He said Wildwood Campground was closed for a time when water from a flooded Choctawhatchee River covered a portion of that street. No residences were affected by floodwaters and the community is fortunate, the chief said, adding that no one should ever cross streets with water over them.A statement from the DDPS stated the city did “have limited flooding issues in and around Daleville. This picture was taken on Wildwood Loop by one of our officers. Please be sure to take necessary precautions to protect yourself if you are in one of these areas. Do not attempt to drive through these areas - they can be deceptively dangerous. Call 911 in an emergency.”
