The Daleville Public Library named its volunteer of the year during its annual Christmas dinner Dec. 7. Director Kathryn Brown presented Jesus (Jesse) Reyna with the annual award before more than 20 members of the library staff, board of trustees, other volunteers and family members during the banquet.“Volunteers are essential to the success of the library,” said Brown. “The library has a staff of two full-time employees and one part-time employee who cannot possibly run every aspect of the library without the support of volunteers. We have volunteers that help with programming and running the circulation desk while we attend meetings or conduct classes and programs.”Brown said the library board and the non-profit library foundation are both voluntary organizations that help the library greatly. “I could not do what I do without my staff, volunteers, board of trustees and the foundation. We are truly a team pursuing a library of excellence hoping to one day meet the needs of the entire community,” said Brown, adding that the library’s goal is to improve the quality of life for all citizens through efficient services, friendly and knowledgeable staff and an unbiased collection of resources and programs.Anyone wishing to volunteer at the library should contact Brown at (334) 503-9119. Those 16 years and older can complete a volunteer application to be considered for a volunteer position.
